Seven useful briefs on food assistance, today’s Pomona transit alert, new bus schedules, wellness programs, work and a family weekend.

CalFresh limits and allotments rise for the new federal fiscal year

Los Angeles County’s September 30 policy release says federal fiscal year 2027 CalFresh cost-of-living changes raise maximum allotments and gross and net income limits for October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027.

The county says the minimum allotment for an eligible one- or two-person household increased to $25. Utility allowances, the homeless shelter allowance, the maximum shelter deduction and some standard deductions or resource limits also changed.

These are county-administered program rules, not a promise that any individual household qualifies or will receive a particular increase. Some measures remain unchanged; readers should use the official policy and their own case information.

$25

minimum allotment

For an eligible one- or two-person household under the county’s FFY 2027 policy—not a universal payment.

Foothill warns of possible Pomona delays on three lines

Foothill Transit says federal law-enforcement activity may delay Lines 480, 482 and 486 today. Its alert identifies affected stop areas along Valley Boulevard at Omar, Dupont and Ridgeway streets, plus Ridgeway at Valley. The agency says delays are possible; this report does not claim they occurred or infer the activity’s agency or purpose.

Foothill posts updated schedules and a new rail connection

Foothill Transit announces November 1 weekday, Saturday and Sunday schedule changes for multiple routes, including Line 482. Weekday service also changes on Lines 188 and 295.

The agency says a new Line 197 stop will connect with the La Verne/Fairplex A Line station. The alert announces a prospective change; riders should check the detailed schedule before travel rather than assume the stop is already in service.

TAP purchase alert lists four workarounds

A Foothill Transit alert headed “10/16 — Some TAP Purchases Unavailable” says purchases at Transit Stores and in the TAP LA app may not refresh because of technical issues. It says existing TAP fare on a card may still be used.

The alert lists Apple Wallet stored value, taptogo.net, TAP machines at Metro stations and contactless credit or debit as alternatives.

Limit: This may be a transient issue, not a permanent policy or confirmed systemwide outage. Check the agency alert for current status.

Pomona calendar groups connection, arts and support programs

The county’s revised October calendar lists Chat & Connect from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Art & Garden from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on October 20, followed by substance-use, mental-health, overdose and support programming through October 30.

The calendar gives the Pomona Wellness Community address as 750 S. Park Avenue, but some sessions are virtual or held at Tri-City. It encourages online registration and allows walk-ins if space is available.

Confirm first: Check the specific session for current time, venue, space and any fee.

Regional job fair is listed for Irwindale

LACOE GAIN lists an Annual Regional Job & Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the SCE Energy Education Center, 6090 Irwindale Avenue.

The organizer describes Hiring Spree LA events as free, with on-site resume help and employers it says are actively hiring. The page lists online registration but does not identify a participating-employer roster or guarantee an interview or offer.

Confirm first: Check capacity and registration with the organizer. This is a regional eastern-LA event, not in Pomona.

Haunted House weekend announced at Palomares Park

Pomona Unified’s October 1 notice relays a City of Pomona Haunted House for Friday and Saturday, October 23–24, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Palomares Park, 499 E. Arrow Highway. It says the haunted house starts at 6:30 p.m.

The notice lists family-friendly areas, a treat trail, inflatables and photo opportunities, and directs pre-registration to Special Events in the city recreation portal.

Confirm first: Check registration availability and admission price with the organizer.

Use the source page before making the trip

Five briefs concern today’s operations, future service or scheduled programs. Alert status, seats, registration and venue details can change after the reporting cutoff. The linked official source is the place to confirm current conditions.

Reporting cutoff

Checked Tuesday at 3:13 p.m. PDT

All seven official source pages were reopened before publication. Foothill’s October 20 delay alert was checked again at 3:13 p.m.; its TAP notice and November 1 service-change page remained available at the reporting cutoff. The county wellness PDF matched the research capture. Event capacity, registration and operating conditions can change.
