Four carefully sourced local stories: one consequential school-process lead and three independent briefs.

Pomona Unified is weighing school-configuration options. It says no decisions have been made.

Enrollment and financial pressures have put boundaries, grade configurations, facility use and possible consolidation under review. The district’s advisory process is not a closure decision.

Pomona Unified says it is evaluating several ways to organize schools and facilities. Its roughly 20-member School Consolidation & Optimization Advisory Committee reviews data and community input, but final school decisions rest with the district.

The district page invites families, staff, students and community members to a linked survey. It lists the committee’s third meeting for Oct. 27 at 5 p.m., subject to change. No Oct. 27 agenda was linked when checked, and the survey did not expose a deadline in the source material reviewed.

Cal Poly Pomona will lead a five-year career-readiness project backed by about $4.5 million

In an Oct. 14 release, Cal Poly Pomona said its Career Ready project received approximately $4.5 million in grant funding through a partnership with CSU Northridge. CPP will lead the five-year work.

The plans include bringing career content into courses and advising and expanding employer-linked internships and micro-internships, with an emphasis on paid experiences.

What the figure means: It is an approximate grant amount—not a count of secured placements, delivered internships or employment outcomes.

Want a November ballot by mail? County officials point to an Oct. 19 registration deadline

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder says vote-by-mail ballots began going to registered voters for the Nov. 3 general election. Eligible voters who are not registered and want to receive a ballot by mail must register by Oct. 19.

Select Vote Centers begin opening Oct. 24. The county says voters can use official ballot drop boxes, return ballots by mail without postage or bring them to a Vote Center, and should sign and date the return envelope.

Important limit: Oct. 19 is presented here as the deadline to receive a mailed ballot—not the last possible way to register and vote. Confirm current locations before traveling.

Pomona set an October target for quarterly updates on major capital projects

Pomona’s city priorities document says Public Works should begin quarterly capital-improvement updates in October 2026 for projects exceeding $5 million. It also targets an enhanced monthly report to the Parks and Recreation Commission, covering projects within that body’s remit, by December.

Status: These are reporting targets to monitor. The document does not establish that an October report has already been delivered or that any project is complete.

The PUSD process page, Cal Poly Pomona release and both county election sources were checked again before publication. The city priorities document was verified against the preserved official PDF; its live server denied the final automated refresh. Meetings, forms, deadlines and public documents can change, so follow the linked agencies for the latest details.
